Nicole’s client faced a multitude of charges after a summer road rage incident in Mille Lacs County. Those charges were: Felony Second Degree Assault, Misdemeanor Intentionally Pointing a Gun, Misdemeanor Fifth Degree Assault and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. The second degree assault with a firearm carried a mandatory prison sentence. Nicole and her client prepared their defense and prepared for trial. Nicole conducted her own investigation and re-interviewed some witnesses. Eventually, Nicole was able to negotiate a deal that avoided a felony conviction, would not impact her client’s rights to possess firearms, and avoided serving any jail or prison time if Nicole’s client pled guilty to Disorderly Conduct.
