Mike Brandt recently represented a client who was charged with felony Possession of Controlled Substances. The allegation was that the client possessed methamphetamine and methadone, which was discovered after she was stopped and arrested for a DWI.
As part of his representation of the client, Mike conducted an investigation of the case and spoke to several witnesses to show that there was a reasonable explanation for the controlled substances being in her vehicle and that they did not belong to her. Mike also challenged the chemical make-up of the suspected methamphetamine and it turned out the suspected drug was not, in fact, methamphetamine. Based upon the investigation and the information provided to the State, the prosecutor agreed to drop all of the felony charges and allowed Mike’s client to plead guilty to a misdemeanor Underage Drink & Drive. Instead of facing a potential prison sentence, Mike’s client was placed on one year of probation, with credit for the jail time already served.
This result is another example of the thorough preparation, knowledge of the law, and diligence that Brandt Kettwick Defense provides to its clients.
