Result: Mike’s client was charged with a Domestic Assault charge and two charges of 5th Degree Assault. In preparation for trial, Mike’s team obtained favorable evidence for his client. After disclosing some of this evidence to the prosecution in preparation for trial, Mike ultimately negotiated an agreement with the prosecutor called a Stay of Adjudication on a reduced charge of disorderly conduct. Mike’s client plead guilty to disorderly conduct and the prosecution dismissed all other charges. The Judge stayed adjudication on the disorderly conduct charge, meaning that the judge did not accept the plea and did not convict Mike’s client. Instead, Mike’s client was placed on probation for 1 year, and upon successful completion of probation, the disorderly conduct charge will be dismissed.

Result: Dani’s client was originally convicted of Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in Anoka County. This conviction was preventing her client from purchasing a firearm under federal law. Dani looked into the conviction and discovered that the sentencing order was incorrectly written, and causing her client’s rights to be misinterpreted. Dani obtained the necessary documents to illustrate her conclusion, reached out to prosecutor and explained the situation. The prosecutor agreed to amend the statute and Dani prepared a motion and proposed order. The court amended her client’s sentence and as such, her client is no longer federally prevented from purchasing a firearm.

Result: Dani’s client was charged with Felony Fifth Degree Controlled Substance and Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in Wright County. Once hired, Dani immediately considered the potential effect these charges could have on her client’s employment status. Dani knew that if convicted, her client would have been barred from their current occupation by the Department of Human Services for an extended period. Her client’s main goal was to avoid this outcome. Dani began negotiating with the prosecutor and eventually was able to secure a deal where her client pled guilty to Misdemeanor Damage to Property with no jail time. In addition to avoiding a felony conviction, this outcome does not affect her client’s employment status.

Result: Felony conviction avoided. Mike’s client was charged with Felony Domestic Assault by Strangulation. This charge would normally result in a felony level conviction. However, Mike was able to negotiate a resolution where the matter was sentenced as a gross misdemeanor, avoiding a felony conviction. Mike’s client was placed on probation for two years and ended not have to serve any jail time.

Result: Mike’s client was charged with Felony Domestic Assault by Strangulation after an incident occurring in Hennepin County on February 9, 2020. Mike negotiated a resolution that allowed this offense to be sentenced as a gross misdemeanor. Mike’s client avoided a felony conviction on his record and will not serve any jail time.

After speaking with her client and gathering evidence, Dani felt she could obtain a favorable resolution for her client. In order to solidify her negotiating position, Dani obtained several witness statements and letter of recommendations. Dani was able to negotiate with the prosecutor and reach an agreement where her client would receive a stay of adjudication on the amended charge of Disorderly Conduct, her client’s remaining charges were dismissed. As long as Dani’s client follows the terms of probation, her client’s Disorderly Conduct charge will ultimately be dismissed.

Result: Dani’s client was charged with Misdemeanor Domestic Assault in Anoka County. As part of her investigation, Dani was able to obtain security footage which confirmed her client’s version of events. Based on the security footage she obtained, Dani approached the prosecutor about an Agreement to Suspend Prosecution. Based on the evidence, the prosecutor agreed to Dani’s proposal. As part of their agreement, the prosecutor amended Dani’s clients’ charge to Disorderly Conduct and agreed to suspend prosecution, meaning that as long as Dani’s client follows the terms of probation, the charge will ultimately be dismissed. Another benefit of the agreement Dani secured for her client is that her client did not have to enter an admittance on the record. Her client will be eligible for an expungement as soon as the charge is dismissed!

Result: Dani’s client was previously convicted of Misdemeanor Fifth Degree Domestic Assault in Scott County. Her client was later denied the right to purchase a firearm. After performing an investigation, Dani realized her client’s conviction was being misinterpreted, thus resulting in the loss of her client’s right to possess firearms. Dani reached out to the Court in order to correct the issue with her client’s sentencing order. Despite the prosecutor’s objection, she was able to get the Court to amend her client’s sentencing order which fixed the issues her client was having. Her client can now legally purchase a firearm.
