Mike Brandt’s client was charged with Theft of a Controlled Substance for stealing opioid medications from patients while she was employed as a nurse in a health care facility. Mike’s client had engaged in this conduct for numerous months before she was caught. Once she was caught and before charges issued, Mike worked with his client to have her enter into chemical dependency treatment, submit to urinalysis testing to show that she was not using drugs, and Mike also put together a great deal of information regarding his client and the tremendous respect she had in the community.
After Mikes’ client was charged, he was able to negotiate a sentence whereby she avoided any sort of jail time and was placed on probation for three years, after which the charge will drop to a Misdemeanor on her record. Mike’s client had to serve a minimal amount of home electronic monitoring (house arrest) and otherwise continue with her sobriety.
