Domestic Assault Charges Continued for Dismissal
Mike Brandt’s client was charged with Domestic Assault for allegedly assaulting his spouse. In preparing the case, Mike took statements from numerous people who showed that the supposed victim was not reliable, had made false allegations in the past, and had sent inappropriate test messages to Mike’s client, even after a no contact order was put into place.
A domestic assault charge is a very serious offense that can cause numerous collateral consequences and stain ones record. However, in this case, Mike was able to convince the Prosecutor to continue this matter for dismissal. What this means is that as long as Mike’s client doesn’t get any new charges within a year, the charges against him will be dismissed. This will also open the way for Mike’s client to get an expungement of his record so this incident will never show up on a background check.
