Mike Brandt’s client, who was a pre-teenager, was charged with domestic assault for an altercation where he threatened his mother and threatened his father with a knife. Mike’s client gave a statement to the police where he admitted to these acts and basically admitted that he was guilty.
Notwithstanding this admission, Mike prevailed upon the prosecutor’s equities and convinced the prosecutor that neither the client’s mother nor father wanted anything on his record, that the client was engaged in proactive counseling to deal with the issues, and that a conviction would not be in the interest of the pre-teen or the family. Based upon this information the prosecutor agreed to continue the matter for dismissal. This means that the charges against Mike’s client will be dismissed in one year as long as Mike’s client stays out of trouble.
