Mike Brandt’s client was charged with Fifth Degree Assault arising out of a confrontation at a fast food restaurant in the City of Blaine in August of 2018. Mike’s client had a spotless record and the allegation was that he had put a woman in fear of bodily harm when he confronted her about some misbehavior at the restaurant. Any sort of assault conviction could have had a very detrimental effect on his business, his background, and future.
In preparing the case, Mike took several statements from people noting his client’s clean record and even temperament. Mike also had his client attend an anger management class to show the prosecutor that he took this matter seriously and to assure the prosecutor that something like this would not happen again.
Because of all this information, the prosecuting attorney agreed to continue this matter for dismissal. This means that Mike’s client paid some nominal costs and the matter was continued for one year at which time the matter will be dismissed as long as Mike’s client does not have another similar charge. This prevented any sort of conviction on Mike’s client’s record and ultimately will end up in the charge being dismissed.
