In addition to facing felony charges, fleeing a Peace Officer in a motor vehicle can also result in your driver’s license getting revoked for a period of up to ten years depending on the circumstances. Fleeing means to increase speed, extinguish motor vehicle headlights or taillights, refuse to stop the vehicle, or use other means with intent to attempt to elude a peace officer following a signal given by any peace officer to the driver of a motor vehicle according to MN Statute § 609.487. If you cause death or bodily harm while fleeing the consequences get significantly more severe.
Beware that the term “motor vehicle” includes snowmobiles, off-road recreational vehicles and motorboats as defined by the statutes. Moral of the story, if you flee a peace officer, the consequences are going to be significantly more severe.
