Mike Brandt’s client was charged with several things, including Gross Misdemeanor Interference with an Emergency Call and two counts of Domestic Assault. Each of these charges would have resulted in significant problems for Mike’s client in that convictions would have affected his ability to secure employment and volunteer at his children’s activities. The original charges also are enhanceable which means that he could have been facing tougher charges if the client were to have any problems in the future.
In preparation for the case, Mike did a lot of investigation looking at the background of the alleged victim, he brought up to the prosecutor prior incidents where the alleged victim had been violent against Mike’s client, and based upon this information the prosecutor agreed to reduce the charges to Disorderly Conduct. In addition to reducing the charges, the prosecutor also agreed to stay adjudication of guilt which means that if Mike’s client completes his probation, the charges against him will effectively be dismissed.
This type of result not only helped save Mike’s client from having some very serious collateral consequences, but it also set up a situation whereby Mike’s client can honestly answer that he has not been convicted of anything. This is the type of result that comes from the experience, hard work, and preparation you get from Brandt Kettwick Defense.
