In April, 2016 in Anoka County, Nicole’s client was involved in a car accident that resulted in one person spending a week in the hospital. The State charged Nicole’s client with an Inattentive Driving with Endangerment of Life or Property charge, which is a misdemeanor. Nicole’s client had a clean criminal record prior to the accident and hoped to retain that clean record. Nicole closely examined the scene of the accident and the police reports regarding the accident and was able to negotiate with the prosecutor to reduce the misdemeanor to a petty misdemeanor failure to stop at a red light, effectively preventing a criminal charge from appearing on the client’s record.
