Nicole’s client found himself facing two felony charges of third degree assault and terroristic threats after a dispute with his girlfriend in Scott County, where she alleged he broke her nose. Nicole investigated the facts of the case and took statements from people who knew both parties involved. Nicole and her client prepared for trial and sent the prosecutor information on her client. After lengthy negotiations Nicole was able to reach a resolution that met her client’s goal of avoiding a felony conviction. Her client pled to a lesser charge of misdemeanor Domestic Assault and was granted a Stay of Adjudication on the third degree assault charge. This means that the Judge did not accent the client’s guilty plea on the felony and following successful completion of probation the felony charge will be dismissed. The second felony charge of terroristic threats was dismissed.
